Choosing a scheme
salt has chosen an employee KiwiSaver scheme provided by EO Saver. Details of this scheme will be provided to you when you register with us. You can choose your own KiwiSaver scheme at any time by applying to the provider of the scheme you want to belong to. If you do not choose your own KiwiSaver scheme you will be allocated to EO Saver scheme.
What do I need to do?
Read through the employee information pack (KS3) then complete employee enrolment form (KS2) and return to salt. Remember if you wish to choose your own scheme you need to apply to the scheme provider.
What about automatic enrolment?
Employees who join salt after July 1st 2007 and who meet the eligibility criteria shown on page 7 of the employee information pack will be automatically enrolled. If you are joining salt as a temp and work for us for 28 days or more you will also be automatically enrolled.
What if I don’t want to be part of KiwiSaver?
If as a new employee you are automatically enrolled but do not wish to remain part of KiwiSaver you can opt out. You must complete the employee opt out request form KS10 and return this to salt or complete the online opt-out form at www.kiwisaver.govt.nz. Please note that salt will continue to make deductions until we receive your signed form or the IRD notify us of your opt out. Once you opt out any deductions that have been made will be refunded to you by the Inland Revenue.
You can only opt out between day 14 and day 56.
If you do not complete your opt out form in time salt will be unable to process your request and deductions will continue to be made from your wages.
It’s important to note that as a temp for salt if you cease working for us but then return you may be considered to be a new employee and could be subject to automatic enrolment meaning you will need to complete a new opt out form. Please contact us if you have any questions around this.
What if I want to take a break?
After you have been contributing to KiwiSaver for 12 months you can apply for a contributions holiday of between 3 months and 5 years. You will need to complete a Contributions holiday request form (KS6).
